Would you classify avocados as vegetable or fruit?
Growing up in Indonesia, I was used to consuming avocados as a dessert soup. When I studied abroad in Japan, my friends ate avocados as a savory toast spread. Shocked with this unfamiliar but intriguing sight, I came to realize that there is more than one way of seeing things. The same lesson applies to the endless ways of approaching design. As a creative person, I emphasize being open-minded as I view things from multiple perspectives, such as: the user, the client, the manufacturer, and the environment. I’m always striving to build an emotional connection with others by trying to understand them first.
Just in the same way that avocados can be savored in several different ways, design can be appreciated in various forms. All that matters is that we enjoy the avocados and fulfill our purpose in communicating the story!
